The Indonesia Pavilion served as a platform for Pertamina and its community partners from the Udjo Ecoland CSV Village program to showcase the beauty of the traditional angklung musical instrument to the world. Through the Cultural Performance program held on August 26–27, 2025, Saung Angklung Udjo performed a variety of songs—from Indonesian regional and national tunes to Japanese folk songs and international hits.

CSV Village stands for Cultural Sociopreneurship for the Vulnerable, a social entrepreneurship initiative aimed at uplifting local culture while supporting vulnerable groups. This program empowers disadvantaged communities in the Cimenyan area to preserve angklung music (through Saung Angklung Udjo) and traditional local foods like peyeum (fermented cassava). CSV also refers to Creating Shared Value.

One real-world application of this initiative includes supporting local food production by supplying Bright Gas for the preparation of Cimenyan’s traditional dishes, in collaboration with the surrounding community.

Udjo Ecoland and the angklung have long been recognized as part of the world’s cultural heritage. The angklung was officially designated by UNESCO as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage on November 16, 2010. In addition, the group has achieved various international accolades, including the Heritage and Cultural Gold Award in Jeju Island, South Korea (2004), setting a Guinness World Record for the largest angklung ensemble in the United States (2011), and winning the Best ASEAN Cultural Preservation Effort at the ASEANTA Awards in the Philippines (2016).

On the following days at the Indonesia Pavilion—August 28–29, 2025—Pertamina showcased the Tari Topeng (Mask Dance), a traditional performance that is part of Pertamina’s cultural preservation program in Juntinyuat Village, Indramayu. This performance also incorporates themes related to environmental awareness.

Pertamina’s participation in the Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka stands as a tangible expression of its commitment to cultural preservation, community empowerment, and promoting Indonesian cultural diplomacy on the global stage.
