Jakarta, September 18, 2024 – Myaku-Myaku, the official mascot of World Expo 2025 Osaka, made its debut in Indonesia at the Jak-Japan Matsuri 2024, held at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on September 14 and 15, 2024. This appearance is part of a global promotion campaign leading up to World Expo 2025, which will take place in Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025. Alongside Myaku-Myaku, Indonesia’s official mascot for World Expo 2025 Osaka, Tumtum, was also introduced to the public, aiming to strengthen cultural collaboration between Japan and Indonesia.

"We are very pleased to welcome Myaku-Myaku to Jakarta as part of the preparations for World Expo 2025 Osaka, and on this occasion, we are also introducing Tumtum, our official mascot, to the public," said Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, M.Sc., Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources at the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).

During the meet-and-greet session at Jak-Japan Matsuri, visitors were very enthusiastic about meeting Myaku-Myaku and participating in various interactive activities held at the World Expo 2025 Osaka booth. The event also provided information on Indonesia’s potential participation in Osaka next year, including Indonesia’s contributions in showcasing sustainable innovations.

"The presence of Myaku-Myaku in Jakarta is an important step in introducing the World Expo to the Indonesian public. It is also an opportunity for us to show that Indonesia is ready to contribute to World Expo 2025 Osaka, both in terms of culture and sustainable technological innovations," she added.

With less than 200 days until the opening of the Expo, this global promotion is expected to raise public awareness and enthusiasm for one of the world's largest international events.
