Built on the principles of eco-friendly design, the pavilion ensures the efficient use of natural resources while minimizing environmental impact. One of its key innovations is the use of Plana wood—an advanced, renewable material designed to replace conventional wood. Composed of 60% rice husks, 30% recycled plastic, and 10% additives, Plana wood is both durable and environmentally responsible.

Beyond material innovation, the pavilion maximizes natural lighting to reduce energy consumption, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. By utilizing rice husks and plastic waste, the Indonesian Pavilion actively supports the 10R principles: Rethink, Retrieve Energy, Reorganize, Replace, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Replant, Recover, and Repair.

The Culture Area of the Indonesian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will be a vibrant stage for Indonesia’s rich traditions. This space will showcase an hospitality, array of traditional dances, music, martial arts, and traditional heritage from across the archipelago. For those fascinated by Indonesia’s wayang (shadow puppet) tradition, the theater room will feature special films by Titi Mangsa and well known Indonesian movie director Garin Nugroho.
